Coming Home

The regular blog writer is my person. I’m her pet. My name is Henry and I’m an orange cat. I’ve never been a stray on the streets but I definitely was not born to the manor. I came from a large litter and it seems as if I didn’t get the attention I needed, thus some behavior problems that have lead to a few placement failures and several stays at a shelter in Morgan Hill, CA.

One day in October a couple of years ago, my person came to pick me up. She was with a guy who appears to be the driver. Unbeknownst to me she fell in love with my photo and took me without ever having met me. This was a break for me because you might have figured it out - I have some issues. In all modesty, I must admit, I’m very attractive which can sometimes make up for my personality flaws. That October day at the shelter, all the other cats were swarming around her asking or more like begging to be taken in their needy way. I was, as my usual wont, brooding on a shelf away from the hoi polloi.

The guy, Scott, who came with her drove us home. The ride home was as pleasant as it could be when you’re jammed into a little crate and unable to see where you are or where you’re going. After an eternity we arrived home, and I was jostled into the house, taken to a small bathroom and let out of my tiny little prison. I ran like I was on fire to the room that she calls the guest room. I’m not the kind to make friends easily and had no interest in changing my MO. My experience, though brief has been very enlightening. Nothing’s permanent, don’t trust anyone, keep up your guard!

My person showed a lot of sensitivity and didn’t even try to coax me out. Being of German descent, (odd that she’s sensitive and German!) she’s all about practicality. She brought in a litter box, food and water, a bed and some toys. Being stubborn I drank nothing, ate nothing, found no need to use the litter box for over 30 hours! Just continued my anti social behavior and brooded in a new place – actually a very nice place. I finally had my own room!

To be continued…………….

Kind regards,

Henry
