I Was Misinformed

You may have guessed – I’m a movie lover. For me, going to the movies is like a 2 hour vacation. What a feeling! Walking into a darkened theater with my buttered popcorn, anticipating being totaling transported for the next few hours. No phone, no email, nothing but entertainment. The following is a favorite movie quote of mine. It’s the simplicity that appeals to me.

"Why are you in Casablanca?"

"I came for the waters."

"Casablanca is in the middle of a desert."

"I was misinformed."

Haven’t we all been misinformed? I was told that I would get a $400 rebate if I agreed to pay for my new cell phone with my cell phone bill over two years. I really hate this - but geez, $400 bucks isn’t chump change, so I agreed. Four months later and hours on the phone it was finally disclosed that this deal never existed. I was misinformed. And judging by similar online complaints from other customers, I wasn’t the only one.

Ordering artwork on-line is chancy. It looks perfect. Large abstract canvas in all the right colors for my contemporary living room. Excitement runs high – it’s on its way! So………… it arrives! It’s a shoddily enlarged photo, presumably taken by a ten year old with a brownie camera, unevenly superimposed on a cheap canvas. I was misinformed!

Another by-product of aging is losing one’s hair. Only on the head, of course. I could choose the old comb-over style or the spider web hairdo. Spider web dos are accomplished by back combing the sparse hair, giving the illusion of fullness. Fooling no one, but resembling a spider web – thus the name.

But…………….there is a drug called Minoxidil, which is a miracle cure for hair loss. It’s worth a try. I’ve noticed no real change in my thinning hair, however my facial hair is going strong – mustache coming in. Eyebrows are coming back – long wiry white brows. Next will be hair coming out of the ears and nostrils. This is what I’ve lived for?! Again – you guessed it – I’ve been misinformed!

This has all been rather depressing – I’m grabbing my jacket and purse and gonna go to the movies!
