A Thanksgiving Poem from Henry

A Thanksgiving Poem from Henry

(a homage to my older than dirt person)

I’m Henry and I’m a handsome lad.

I’m always good and rarely bad.

I came from a shelter in Morgan Hill,

and I’m worth every penny of the bill.

I had been shifted around from pillar to post,

but in my heart I knew what I wanted most.

I hoped and prayed for a forever stay,

a place to peacefully eat and sleep and play.

I’d thrown up my paws and cried what’s the use.

I’ve had more than my share of neglect and abuse.

So one day I decided to change my like.

I opted for no more grief and no more strife.

I put on a very brave face and left my usual place.

I went out and met a lady

and now my name is Henry Waydee.

When it’s cold and stormy I have a warm house to stay in.

When the weather’s sunny, I have lovely garden to play in.

When I’m too weary to hold up my head,

I look forward to a soft, comfy bed.

So this is how the story ends -

my person and I become forever friends.
