Relaxing at the Movies. Really?

The day after Christmas – perfect time to go to the movies. And everyone else thought the same. Parking lot crazy, so my son dropped me off to get the tickets. Long line to get to the box office, which was a sole teenager, where I arrived after passing the gate keeper who disdainfully waved me along with the other technology challenged, mentally deficient seniors. No, I hadn’t purchased my ticket online nor had I reserved a seat. Now the only available seats were in the first and second row. We’ll take two!

My son is in another long line for my popcorn. We buy a bag and we now are in another long line to get the “butter”. One dispenser had run out and we got to see it being replaced – a vat of, god knows what, placed in a dirty, greasy cupboard. Not disgusting enough to turn me off! I like my butter - real or not.

Phew! We get to our seats and reclined to almost horizontal positions. The previews begin and excitement mounts. I still love movies in a movie theater. I’m going to give this movie a rave review. “Song, Sung, Blue” is about a couple from Milwaukee. The male is a Neil Diamond “interpreter” not to be confused with impersonator. Milwaukee is my home town and I’m always excited about any notoriety connected to the city. Thunder and Lightening were quite famous in their time.

Both Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman are excellent in their roles and they actually do their own singing – very good singing. The movie depicts “working class” people and environments beautifully and realistically. Milwaukee looks appealing – but I am happy to have left for California. Though I still miss the Milwaukee hamburger – toasted bun, slathered with butter (real), meat patty and raw onions.

YouTube has a documentary on the duo. Warning – see it after you see the movie. The magic of movies is that movies make everything better!
