Entitled – Not Me!

Friday was my day for running into “entitled” people. It started at the Post Office where there were six of us waiting in line for service from two clerks, one of whom was helping a young woman attempting to mail an opened Amazon package. Has she confused USPS with UPS? Never needing to lose her place, we got to witness her running to the side of the post office to choose tape, and then back to the counter where the clerk helped her wrap and tape her package. Then there seemed to be some issue with finding where to send it – all the while we wait!

I finally got my stamps and while I’m backing out, a car zooms in and parks it the handicapped space. No placard nor handicapped license plate. Woman hops out and dashes into the post office while her driver waits in the car in the handicapped space.

When leaving the parking lot, I’m behind a car trying to make a left turn while viewing two very large signs “NO LEFT TURN”. Oh well, giving him the benefit of the doubt – perhaps he can’t read. Now normally, I try to be composed and also try to avoid using profanity – using profanity is not a good look for a 90+ year woman. But...all bets are off when I’m in my car. I have conjured up profane combinations that even truck drivers don’t use.

And…. finally banking is done, stamps purchased, sundry errands completed and it’s almost cocktail hour! Not so fast – a woman tears out and attempts to get in the left turn lane where there is no room. No problem, her car will just diagonally take up two lanes until the light changes, preventing anyone from getting past her. By the time I can get in the lane, the light changes again – my martini will wait!

It’s so good to be home at the end of the day! But wait – two piles of poop (presumably from a dog) are on my little patch of front yard! What a perfect ending to this slice of life story. If there is another life after this one, I had always thought I would want to come back rich and beautiful. But no……...just make me entitled!
