I'm in Love with Officer B

I’m in Love with Officer B

to the tune of

Carol Burnett’s rendition of I’m in Love with John Foster Dulles

You need to be really old to know the above reference - perhaps you can google it.

For the most part, I adhere to the “live and let live” philosophy. Except…….when it comes to excessive numbers of cars parked on public streets for long periods of time. Then I become the Mrs. Schumacher of my neighborhood. (Mrs. Schumacher was the “Karen” of my childhood. If a ball rolled on her lawn you went crying to your mother to retrieve it – children’s feet were not tolerated on her little patch of green in front of a duplex which she rented.)

So, a few months ago we had a motor home on the main street running parallel to my street in my townhouse community. People were living in it, proof of which was provided by my observation of one of the occupants

tossing a container of liquid into our landscaping. Yikes! What was the liquid? Begs the question.

Contacting the “abandoned vehicles” department was futile and egging it wasn’t an option because of my fears of being arrested after being caught doing this on camera.

I called the non-emergency police number and was transferred to Officer B. Oh my goodness, I felt like I was in Mayberry, R.F.D. and help was on it’s way. The officer went that day and talked with them and got them to agree to move it out of the area in two days. They did and my faith in the PD was strengthened.

Then again! Another RV appears! This one was new and expensive and not appearing to be housing a family. Why would anyone assume that it’s okay to store a vehicle for weeks on a public street, upkeep for which we all pay? And breaking the 72 hour move rule. The owner can afford a $100,000+ vehicle, but can’t afford appropriate storage? Of course, they can – they just don’t care.

So….another text to Officer B. The vehicle is backed up a couple of yards, still making it difficult to see around and to pull out safely. Office B follows up and, again he comes to the rescue – the next day the RV is gone.

Thank you, Officer B!

A Better Place

This is Henry – yes, Henry! I’m here in a better place and I’m almost sure that OTD will not appreciate my post. Contrary to her claim, there is a place superior to what she calls a little “slice of paradise”, her home. The better place IS Paradise! More about that later. Anyway I’m taking umbrage with her most recent post. I’m damaged?! Highly intelligent, sensitive to a fault, slightly off beat, yes. But damaged? I think not! Again, I’m sensing an emotion, quite foreign to cats – empathy. It seems as if she misses me terribly. OTD is the kind of person who should always have an animal. I sincerely hope she finds it in her heart to love and nurture another cat. She was great to me.
